Amber is the most encouraging and insightful teacher. I have improved immensely on my singing ability - resonance, tone, pitch, even education on the music. She is open to doing pieces that I am passionate about and always gives me a challenge. I have absolutely loved this experience with Amber and am excited to see what the future holds!

I believe fundamentally that each student has a unique learning style and benefits from a tailored approach. I do not subscribe to a particular regimented program of study, rather I select the repertoire and etudes to match each student's needs. I believe in choosing both concert music and etudes to challenge individual deficits and work on skills that will apply broadly across the repertoire.

It is my goal to select level-appropriate repertoire to build on strengths, challenge weaknesses, and ensure that young violinists develop strong technical facility that enables them to develop into mature musicians with ease.

About Joshua

I am a professional orchestral violist and recording artist based in Long Beach, California. However, I am currently living in Denver, Colorado. For the past two seasons, I have primarily served as the assistant principal violist of the Pacific Symphony, while enjoying a flourishing freelance career

"KarenH

My husband and I were extremely pleased with the progress our son Thomas made with Dan. Thomas started playing last year and was progressing faster than the rest of his third grade class which is why we were looking for a private teacher to help him along. Before taking lessons with Dan I had a hard time getting Thomas to practice. Thomas has begun practicing all on his own because he has been genuinely inspired. Dan is a true professional who always on time and in a good mood to teach. He was so patient with Thomas and developed practice techniques unique to Thomas's situation. Dan is more than just a violin teacher, he is dedicated to inspiring each student to love music. Thanks Dan!!!"

"Charlene possesses the perfect combination of skill, talent and temperament to make an excellent instructor and teacher. Not only does Charlene have significant skill and experience as a musician but also she has the ability to effectively demonstrate and communicate the principles and techniques of playing the violin from the most rudimentary level (i.e. my level) to the experienced level of serious talented students. Charlene does all this in a relaxed but serious manner. It has been my experience, that when noting deficiencies, Charlene addresses them with patience and corrects and guides the student along in a manner that is both honest and effective but never discouraging or dispiriting. Charlene is very adaptable at modifying her teaching methods or approach and can accommodate instructing elderly retirees (i.e. individuals like me) or some of the youngest students with the tiniest violins you ever saw. In other words, Charlene is very good at assessing a student's goals and asperations and customizing her approach to the individual student's needs and current abilities. Charlene sets clear goals for improvement and learning new techniques and motivates the student to improve and strive for a realistic and achievable level of skill. I would recommend Charlene to any student of any age and any skill level."

"Simply an amazing teacher

I've always wanted to play Violin but was always intimidated by the instrument, especially when I finally bought one and picked it up for the first time.

My intimidation went away when I started taking lessons with Kelvin.

Kelvin provided all of the necessary steps and guidelines along the way from my first note to my first song and did it with many examples that I can perfectly relate to.
He keeps things simple yet very complex at the same time.
The way he teaches is very easy to understand.
He can instantly notice a mistake if I've made one and he is able to correct it easily.

And through all of this, every lesson I take with him is very fun and exciting.
Kelvin is truly a professional and it is wonderful to be able to learn to play violin from him."

"Mrs. Beckley has taught my daughter how to play the violin for several months learning notes, chords, and beginners' techniques. She is always patient as she directs my daughter's lessons. Every week she gives assignments to be practiced before the next lesson. Mrs. Beckley always says, "You are welcome to suggest music that you would like to learn instead of the assigned music piece that I assign for practice."

She said that if we have trouble finding sheet music, she will write it out for my daughter to learn. Mrs. Beckley is a very skilled instructor, and my daughter agrees that she gives great direction with skilled consistency."
