Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a recent graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I received both my MM as well as my BM degrees in violin performance. I've studied with with many world renowned musicians and am a very active international performer, performing from CA and CO to London and Cuba.

I am a native of California, born and raised in Los Angeles and have been surrounded by musicians my whole life. With both my parents and my brother playing the cello, I have always found passion and love for music and the community built by musicians. I started playing piano at a young age and after a few years transferred to violin which I then dedicated myself to and grew into my career.

Lessons are whatever you need them to be, but in general I will focus on using scales, etudes and solo repertoire to: solidify technique, improve ear training, and expand your musical portfolio.

I believe that music can be learned and loved by everyone from young children to adults and by ...

I've been taking lessons with Sarah for a few months now and am so pleased - I played violin as a youngster but hadn't played meaningfully in nearly 20 years. Sarah was great at immediately assessing my level and tailoring our lessons to me. She is extremely patient, challenges me to an appropriate level, and does a great job of incorporating just the right about of theory to make my lessons meaningful yet fun and engaging. I highly recommend Sarah and am so grateful I found her!

Sarah really helped me with my basic techniques! I've been trying to learn how to play violin by myself over the pandemic and finding online lessons with her was the ANSWER. She's incredibly kind and patient and explains posture and walks me through scales and etudes to strengthen my basics. Sarah also has a broad understanding of repertoire, which I hope to also be able to play soon!

Sarah is a great teacher! Her combined use of technical and musical ideas has increased my appreciation for music and has made me better at the violin!

Every student is unique, so I will tailor the lessons to you and make it fun! I'm passing on to you the training I received from the very best master teachers of the violin. Stringed instruments are challenging, but I believe in enjoying making music at every level, while establishing a strong foundation in good technique. For learning fundamentals of music theory and ear training, we will play various rhythm and improvisational games. I have extensive background in European classical music, and I've also done quite a bit of improvisation, some fiddling, and electric violin and viola. Whether you want to be the next Joshua Bell or the next Lindsey Stirling, I can help you improve your playing. I will help you sing, dance and tell a story through your violin or viola.

About Gloria

Born into a musical family in 1966, I have extensive performance experience as a classical violinist and violist, and I've been composing my own music since 2000. I am very grateful to have studied with some of the finest teachers of violin, viola and chamber music, and I graduated in 1990 from the

Gloria has been a wonderful and inspiring teacher over a period of very formative years for me as a violinist. We first worked together for all 4 years of my undergraduate violin performance degree at Mills College from 2010-14, and Gloria helped me develop a lasting appreciation for listening deeply and developing focus for small details. We worked together on everything from solo Bach and Hindemith sonatas to concertos, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts. She has been a lasting influence in my life as a musician, and I will continue to return for musical and creative advice over the years even when I live far away.

Hi, my name is Brooke! I graduated Summa Cum Laude from NYU with my degree in Violin Performance and recently graduated from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music with my Masters in Violin Performance. I have been playing violin for 20 years, beginning with the Suzuki method at a young age. My teaching philosophy is aligned with the Suzuki method — I believe that every child can! I grew up with the Suzuki method and have received training as a registered member of the Suzuki Association. Every person can learn music and I would be honored to part of your musical journey. I have 5+ years of teaching experience and working with various ages. I am a firm believer in starting children at a young age with a strong emphasis on good set up, posture and technique. "I’m an adult learner of violin with a full-time work schedule that frequently goes over 45 hours during slow weeks. I’ve never been what many would musically talented, but the desire to learn an instrument has always been there. Like a lot of people with a full-time schedule and trying to advance their career, it’s hard to carve out time for extracurricular hobbies. On a whim, I decided to learn violin and bought one from Amazon. I quickly realized I was out of my depth. I went looking for an instructor and found Ha-eun on Take Lessons.

She’s a fantastic instructor because she’s always willing to take time to answer questions, change the lesson plan to fit what the student’s needs at that time, and focus on the basics while learning how to play music. There is a lot to know when playing violin and it can feel quite overwhelming. Ha-eun broke down some of these big overwhelming chunks into small comprehensible sizes. There is an art in teaching an instrument without making the process frustrating, and she actively tries to make learning how to play violin easy on the student. The violin is a difficult instrument, especially when you realize there is no frets on it. I think Ha-eun does an excellent job and recommend her as an instructor."
